I received amazing care while being at Kindred, all of the nurses that were assigned to me were super!! They really showed that they cared. A few nurses stood out the most, each of them were kind and explained my treatments to me and took extra time to make sure that I fully understood everything. Rose, Samantha, and Kaitlin were amazing - they made me feel good about myself by encouraging me to get better and offering their support if I ever needed anything. Great response time with respiratory; especially Joe, he showed compassion and genuine concern regarding my respiratory treatments. Other respiratory therapists I would like to recognize are Sam, James, Beth and Larissa - each of them were nice to me and explained the benefits of my respiratory treatments and talked to me about my trach and explained why I didn't need it because it was capped already.. CNAs also were great, but definitely CeCe (who worked night shift) she was nice and notified me of my blood sugar and blood pressure levels without me having to ask, she truly meant a lot to me. The Rehab team was caring and made therapy fun, Tisha and Mario were the best therapists I worked with. They both had an excellent sense of humor and could joke around with me, which made therapy enjoyable. I know I'm ready to go home because the care was great and I made a lot of progress. CNAS also were great. Rehab team like Tisha and Mario were caring and make it fun. Now I'm ready to go home because the care was great. I loved my doctors as well, Dr. Haddad saw me every day and kept me informed of my treatment progress and discharge plans. Also, Kindred had a great housekeeping staff, Margarita and Rosalba kept my room extremely clean, they were very detailed with their cleaning and made sure to clean up every surface in my room. Rosalba even made special efforts to ask me how I was doing and chat about my day, she is a hard worker and excelled at her job. Overall Kindred has friendly staff members in every department! I would definitely recommend this long term care hospital location to anyone that requires extra hospital care. Many thanks to a great and knowledgeable staff!
After 4 days in a major hospital I was transferred to Kindred for continous medication for a serious non-contagious infection. I was very weak and having only one leg, I did not know what to expect. Fear & anxiety overcame me. The transfer was smooth & upon entering the building a relief came over me, the room was ready for me when I arrived; nurses & other personnel surrounded me with special care & attention, they examined & questioned me thoroughly about my medical history. The spacious room with a 3rd floor view of the setting sun filled me with the thoughts that I was in the right place, no longer did I have fear & anxiety. The room is comfortable & inviting, it has shaded double windows, a nice sized closet, mirrored vanity with a sink at the bedside & the bathroom has a walk in shower. The only draw back for me was the bed controls on the bed rails & the fact that the nursing call button & tv control are all in one on the same device with a long cord that gets in the way or slips off the bed. I have low vision & often times have called the nursing station when I only meant to turn on the tv. The nurses rotate so I've met many friendly & patient staff members, the CNAs are at your beckon call. When administering medication, all nurses have kept me informed of what I'm taking, which was never done at the previous hospital that I came from. The supervisors greet you when passing by & are eager to please me & inquire of my comfort & needs. Most patients are recovering, we often meet in the halls or in the therapy gym. I have found a cute antidote, a gentleman in a wheelchair like myself & our therapy time slot is the same. We've exchanged friendly talk while we wait for therapy to begin, one day I strolled in & parked my chair next to his and he said "We've got to stop meeting like this!" We started giggling & the therapist overheard and came over to us and started laughing with us as well! Dr. Haddad, my primary physician, is down to earth & tells it like it is, he visits daily and thoroughly answers my questions. One day when I asked him when I could be discharged, he said to me "You are on the right track, but haven't made it to the train station just yet!" So it's good to know he has a sense of humor.. The variety of meal selections will make your mouth water.! The dietician met with me & discussed my likes/dislikes upon admission & they always do their best to please me when I make special requests on my menus. To sum up my stay I am getting well and strong! All around Kindred has nice people, support & great care!!
All nursing staff has been attentive and friendly - truly a good nursing staff .. Unfortunately, the food is hospital food - not terrible but the best. I have been admitted for IV antibiotics, and receive my treatments daily with no problem. I am very independent and do not require much physical therapy from the therapist but if needed they are there to assist me. Karla, Cynthia, and Immaculate have been truly great nurses to me, but all in all fairness all of the nurses have been A Okay!! Selina with Patient Relations and my case manager, Maria, were very helpful as well with any questions I had. Thank you all for good care.
I've visited Kindred Bay Area three pleasant times, and each time I've been admitted the care has gotten better and better... Rita Sanchez, is a super girl, she inserted an IV line and it was nearly painless. Jessica Darby in physical therapy is awesome, one of the best!! She really encourages me to participate in therapy sessions, even when I don't want to - but one can't get past her, she really cares about the progress being made. Every morning my doctors come by to visit me and always keep me informed about the treatment plans and always answers all of my questions and keep me update on discharge plans.. All in all this visit has been excellent! I would definitely recommend this LTAC to my family and friends, if you had to be in a hospital this is probably one of the best ones to be in!
This was my first time at Kindred Bay Area and I had no idea what to really expect... Upon arrival my admitting nurse was friendly and attentive, she made me feel comfortable, however since I was experiencing this type of care for the first time it was little strange. The following day I met all disciplinary teams - and the department that stood out to me to most was wound care, especially Cynthia. From the beginning she knew exactly what I needed, and she fought for it - as soon as she walked into my room she said I needed an air mattress and the physician refused, but she kept fighting and the following day it was in my room. All of the wound care team members were thorough with treating my wound, as well as gentle. Each one of them were kind and humorous, and often knew what I needed without me realizing my own needs! I loved that I had my own private room, and the intimate privacy I could have while visiting with my family. One night in particular my whole family (5+ individuals) came to visit me to have a mini-tailgate party while watching the Sunday night football game...they stayed until 11:30pm and not once did the nursing staff state we were too noisy or to leave. The physical therapy team was awesome! Brach worked well with me and never pushed me too hard! The food was not the best, but it's hospital food. I was a picky eater during my stay and the dietician visited me once a week to help provide me with different food options. Nursing staff was good, but could definitely benefit from having additional worked on hand. They were often times stretched too thin and that resulted in long waiting periods before I could be given any assistance. My case manage Tamara was a gem, she always kept me informed of any treatment updates and was a great help when it came to finding skilled nursing facilities at time of discharge. She was very knowledgeable and kind, I'll definitely miss her. All in all the care I received was excellent and I would definitely recommend this hospital to anyone needing long term care. Thank you all!
My stay has been awesome, I do not have one complaint... All of the nursing Staff and wound care staff were all very kind and gentle. The food was very good. The following individuals made sure I had everything I needed: Shurron and Cherri. They made me feel comfortable and answered any questions I ever had, if they did not know they answer they made sure to find out. I was expecting to be here for long term and was given thorough explanations as to why I was being treated. All in all I would definitely recommend this hospital!!
Before being transferred to Kindred, I was extremely nervous and hesitant because I didn't know what to expect - I was expecting an old, dark and smelly facility but was completely wrong. The hospital was new and fresh smelling, clean and bright.. My admission to the hospital went well, admitting nurse Samantha was very cordial and friendly and made me feel comfortable. The facility is filled with nice individuals. The dietician Fun was always coming to check on me and accommodated my dietary needs, she said they would take care of all my requests and they definitely have. The kitchen staff was great to provide me with anything I called for, including snacks and extra items on my tray. The only hiccup that occurred was one morning the nurse came in and stated that I was being transferred to another room, I was not given a notification, but once I told the nursing supervisor Kim of the situation she moved me back to my original room within fifteen minutes. Glenda and Kim, nursing supervisors, were constantly checking on me and asking me how I was or if I needed anything. Trish and Brach in physical therapy are amazing individuals! They always made me feel comfortable and had me laughing... The whole department was always upbeat and friendly. I am a dialysis patient and the tech Giovanni was always willing to do anything I needed to keep me comfortable, he is such a gem. I also needed wound care services while I was here, the wound care team was excellent, Cynthia was extra meticulous about how she tended to my wound. My case manager, Alise, was absolutely wonderful!! She made sure to get me in contact with physicians about my treatment plans, and also made sure the physicians were in communication with one another. The physicians or physician assistants made daily rounds and explained the treatments to me. I am overall extremely pleased with my stay at Kindred, if I had to return I would definitely do so without hesitation. I am giving a four star rating just due to the room transfer hiccup.
