Technology can be a blessing and a curse. I can get a bit caught up in this whole app thing, and have downloaded many losers that actually waste my time and junk up my phone. After doing a major app cleanse the other day, these are some of my favorite apps that will always have a place on my phone.
Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen. I think I speak for most people when I say that if I had my way I would eat exclusively organic. Affording all organic is a whole other story. So I choose to eat organic what is important to me and what my family and I eat a lot of. To help out even further, the Environmental Working Group comes out with its yearly list of produce that is found to be highest in pesticides (and lowest in pesticides). This give me another good way to pick organics.
Seafood Watch. Curious to know what the best kind of salmon to buy or what seafood to stay away from? Seafood Watch lists all the seafood available and categorizes by Best Choice, Good Alternative or Avoid. It even lists the best and worst sushi fish to eat. A great resource in the confusing world of "what to eat".
Don't Eat That. You know all those mysterious ingredients you see on food labels that you can't pronounce? They're all in this app, with descriptions of their use and warnings for each. Also includes food and drug interactions, genetically modified food ingredients and banned ingredients.
I Heart Veggies. Want to know the nutrition profile of Bok Choy or how to grow Swiss Chard? This app gives all the benefits of a wide variety of vegetables, their specific nutrients and how to easily cook and grow each of them.
Walkmeter. I am a big walker and I am frequently going off road and onto trails or the beach to walk, which sometimes means I have no idea how far I have traveled. Enter Walkmeter, which uses GPS to track the exact length of your walk (or run), your pace, time and many other options.
Now I want to hear from you. What healthy apps do you use that you consider time savers, or life savers? Keep the conversation going in the comments below!
