What do you know about happiness?

I recently found this interesting quote ...

It is what we think we know already that often prevents us from learning. - Claude Bernard, 1813-1878, French Physiologist

...and in response, I offer my happiness interpretation:

It is what we think we know about happiness that often prevents us from being happy. Dr. Happy

What do you think you know about happiness?

What do you think brings happiness versus what really does generate fulfilment and satisfaction?

There's a body of research that suggests we're not actually very good at finding happiness because we're not very good at predicting what will bring about real happiness.

Accordingly, answer the questions I've posed above and you may well find yourself more able to experience much more happiness in your life!

I agree with lottelotte. I think it's hard for me as a woman to be happy if I don't feel good about the way I look. It's not the only thing. I think it makes me happy to live in a safe, comfortable, and secure environment. Also I enjoy time with my family and children. I know we hear a lot about money not bringing happiness, but it sure helps to not be starving and be able do some of the things I enjoy that cost money, like take nice vacations.

That is great point. I use to think (and I still do) that if I were a certain weight I would be happier. Right now I am trying to get back to my prepregnancy weight. I wish that I had enjoyed myself more when I was at my prepregnancy weight, because even then I was obsessing about how fat I was.
