I started seeing Jim in Morgantown WV. I have a disease called interstitial cystitis and had constant pelvic and sacral pain. I had decided to leave the medical field and use only alternative methods of healing. I had never seen an acupuncturist, so I wasn't even sure what to expect. My massage therapist gave me his name and I set up appointments. I saw him weekly for some time, and it was by far some of the best therapy I've had to date. Jim is not only extremely knowledgeable, he is also kind, considerate, compassionate and listens to each patient, in a way that makes you feel very at ease. I am extremely sad that he is no longer in our area, as once I find someone I trust, it's hard for me to change. Luckily my physical therapist keeps me going these days. If you're thinking about going to Jim, DO IT. Its so worth every minute. It not only gives pain relief, but it also helps release pent up emotions that many of us tend to hold onto. Acupuncture is amazing...truly.
Jim Slaymaker helped me with the pain of a shingles attack and helped me far more than the nerve meds. He is knowledgable, and also enjoys the challenge of figuring out a treatment for situations which he may not yet have encountered. He is articulate and thoughtful, not to mention that he is highly skilled as an acupuncturist.
Mr. Slaymaker's strengths is his thoroughness based on his wholistic paradigm. When patients visit him for some specific symptoms, instead of addressing only the reported symptoms, his philosophy is to treat the whole person by addressing the acupuncture points that are both directly and indirectly related to the reported symptoms. By taking this approach, he not only addresses the current complaints but also addresses the needs for preventing any future complaints that are directly or indirectly connected to the current symptoms. I also feel that his wholistic approach generally kept my immune system strong and thus preventing the development of any major disease for as long as I was seeing him on a regular basis. I can testify that he is being missed after leaving the Morgantown neighborhood and thus I recommend him as a competent acupuncturist with no reservation.
Jim's approach to healing combines the best of both spiritual and oriental medicine. His training, insight and gentle approach to healing are central to creating a trusting, productive patient/doctor relationship. He made me a believer in both acupuncture and in myself. I highly recommend Jim to anyone searching for a DOM and only wish he was still here in WV.
Jim helped me to get rid of my plantar fasciitis, which had plagued me previously for almost a year. He is great and cares about his patients a lot. He is also knowledgeable in other types of alternative treatments.
Jim Slaymaker provided immediate relief and long term healing for my horrific case of shingles. I appreciated his knowledgeability and compassion. His energy is great.
Jim Slaymaker is concerned with the patient's total health. He uses acupuncture not only to alleviate specific pain, but to enhance overall health & vitality. He always included personalized recommendations for my own situation. It was a big loss for Morgantown when he left. I was sorry to see him go as my acupuncturist. He is top-notch.
Jim Slaymaker was my go-to guy for pain management. I am allergic to almost all analgesics. When he practiced in Morganton, I went to see him at least twice a month. He helped to keep the pain under control, but most importantly, he helped to keep me balanced. He treated the whole person, body and mind in a relaxed, peaceful setting that complimented his practice style. He is unique in that he totally understands electrical nerve impulses, muscles and has even given me a few minutes of massage at the end of a treatment. If NJ weren't 360 miles away, I would still be seeing Dr. Slaymaker.
