I went for my consult in Chattanooga. Dr. Lackey, Susan and staff were great! I do think the website is a little misleading because every city you click on states that Dr. Woolfson does Lasik there and you do not have to drive to Atlanta...that is not the case. But overall it was a great experience! Dr. Woolfson and his team make you very comfortable every step of the way. In some of the reviews I read before I went for Lasik said you were 'just a number' and 'they heard you through like cattle' I did not get that vibe AT ALL. BTW David in Sandy Springs is definitely and asset to your location!! He was very informative on what to and not to do after the procedure and cutting up with everyone put you at ease. Dr. Woolfson was very personable and was willing to answer any questions. I was AMAZED how well I could see even the next day and I am over 40! I am on day 4 and if you follow their instructions you should not have any problems! It was worth every penny :)
He was very thorough and quick. I felt like i knew what to expect. He did seem a little frustrated with me when i was flinching with pain though. Bedside manner was average.
The experience with Dr. Woolfson was great! The staff was very professional and made everybody very comfortable right before the surgery. However, I think the eye shields provided to sleep in could be better. The plastic ones are a little difficult to tape on and position correctly on your face. Overall, the entire experience exceeded my expectations.
The Doctor, gentlemen who prepared us for surgery and office staff were great. I particularly enjoyed the laser engineer and office manager. I did get frustrated with a nurse in the or. She kept running into my feet during the procedure then the Dr would tell me to be still. The lack of body awareness or care was VERY frustrating. She ran into my feet 3 times during the procedure.
The only thing I would change is having a consistent message about activity post-op. I heard two weeks with no makeup, and then just one week on the day of my LASIK. I was also told I could resume normal activity after my 1-day checkup, but tennis is part of my normal activity, and I did not realize I would need to wait a week before playing. Overall I was so pleased with everything at Woolfson. I will recommend them to everyone I know--already have done so twice.
Dr. Woolfson was fantastic, but I spent more time sitting in an exam room waiting to be seen than the actual procedure. I showed up early for my appointment and went through the pre-testing and financial side efficiently and quickly, but waiting in a cold exam room (within earshot of the loud laser machine), alone, for upwards of 30-45 minutes seems excessive to me. Then, sitting in a room, waiting for the whole group to finish pre-testing, took forever. Also, as a medical professional, I did not approve of the sharing of eye drops amongst all the patients. Even though they were instilled by the staff and most likely did not touch someone else's eyes, I thought this very unprofessional and unhygienic. I know the drops are expensive, but why could not every patient have their own bottle, especially since we have to continue to use the same drops for upwards of 4 days post-op. However, I am very happy with my Lasik and the staff was very friendly and helpful, I do feel that some of these issues should be improved upon.
Everyone (front desk staff, technicians, the actual doctor) at the clinic was very friendly and supportive. They did a very good explaining the payment arrangements, scheduling pre-op and post-op appointments with my eye doctor in town, making sure I understood how the procedure would occur, and how to take care of my eyes after surgery. I would have liked to have met the doctor before the day of surgery though and not waited 3 hours in the waiting room the day of surgery.
