During the past 5 to 10 years, there has been a flood of research looking into the effects of different nutrients on brain function. One such study, published last year, investigated preventative strategies for cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder, and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder. The researchers concluded that DHA from omega-3 fatty acids, along with an antioxidant, can theoretically decrease the incidence of these 3 disorders by more than 75%! Studies like this one, and the one discussed below, put me on a research quest for other nutrients that positively impact the function of the brain.
